Jean DeBettignies, MA, PT
Jean’s passion for biomechanics as a specialty of her practice began while she served as Head Athletic Trainer at United States International University in San Diego in 1980. She found that fully understanding and integrating the way athletes walked and ran resulted in decreased injuries and improved performance for her athletes. She brings this enthusiasm and expertise and to each and every client she treats.
Jean has taught countless professional courses in foot and ankle biomechanics at National Conferences, and holds a US patent on custom sandals. She is an esteemed consultant to physicians and physical therapy practitioners in the community.
From 1987 to 2003, Jean owned the highly successful Precision Biomechanics physical therapy office, where she and her staff helped countless athletes and residents with both acute and chronic injuries return to their highest level of activity.
For many years, Jean has donated her time to work with the athletes from Ventura High School cross-country team, as well as the intercollegiate athletes from University of California, Santa Barbara. She is an avid sports enthusiast and loyal supporter of Santa Barbara teams.
Jean holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy, a Masters degree in Education, and is a Licensed Physical Therapist with the state of California.
In her spare time, Jean likes to sail the SB Channel, hike the foothills, ride her bike, and listen to the wisdom of the natural world around her. She can often be found listening to the particularly sage advice of her cat Mandy.
